my addiction

Do not be alarmed, I have not succumbed to the allure of wasted muscle and rotting teeth that so many addicts sport. While the increased energy and a whip thin model physique hold some appeal, I would just as soon skip the hepatitis. ( it would interfere with my drinking) No my addiction does not involve illicit drugs, though it is no less expensive, its remodeling. I do not consider myself a materialistic individual, I have little appetite for luxury goods, but I am here to testify with evangelical zeal to the blessings of an attractive and functional kitchen. Its a revelation. Of course now that the kitchen is complete, its time to improve the bathroom, and our bedroom, and the addition over the garage, and and. . .

Who are these people?

and why do they keep calling me dad? You know, after 19 years of doing a lousy job of keeping the family up to date of the strange goings on of the Whaley-Sharp clan I've decided to try out this new thing they call the internets to do so. I hear-tell a series of tubes will magically send off words and images describing just what we've been up to. Hmmm, in retrospect, maybe this isn't such a great idea.

Anywho, later on I'll give a Reader's Digest version of the story so far but for the first post let me just hit on the highlights of the past few weeks. The two biggies have been Margaret graduation from nursing school and our kitchen is finally finished!

Margaret Whaley, Nurse. -After a biology degree, a law degree and now this she tells me nursing is her true calling. I think she just likes having letters after her name and wearing scrubs. In any case, after two years of working full time and going to school full time Margaret has graduating nursing school. She now has a few weeks to decompress (well, other than taking the before starting her new job!

Kitchen! I don't know if any of you have gone for any length of time without a kitchen but should there be any doubt, let me just say, it sucks! After several weeks without a kitchen we finally have a splendid new kitchen. Yes, I'm secure enough in my masculinity to use the word splendid.
While we were able to relocate the refrigerator we were several weeks without sink and stove. The worst was the sink. While a microwave was a pale substitute for the oven, doing dishes in the bathroom sink was just , well, wrong. Here's a short cut to the pics. Or, you can see them through the gallery on the right by clicking on the thumbnail.
